Evelyn's Obituary

Roberta "Evelyn" Pennington McKinnis, age 94, of Prague, Oklahoma, passed away on March 18, 2023 in the presence of her family. Evelyn was born on November 16, 1928 to in May, Oklahoma and moved to Blackwell, Oklahoma with her family.

In 1946, Evelyn met Daniel Herbert "Danny" McKinnis and they were married April 6, 1947. Evelyn and Danny had 3 children and raised their family in Blackwell, OK. She was a hairdresser, while Danny worked for the Blackwell Fire Department, as Cheif. After retirement, Dan and Evelyn worked at Sequoyah State Park in maintenance and other park acitivities, then moved to work at a local nursery in Hulbert, OK. Evelyn was a strong, resilient and carrying mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She was funny, loving, compassionate, and a guiding light for her family.

Evelyn McKinnis is preceded in death by her husband, Daniel Herber "Danny" McKinnis and Denise Annette McKinnis. She is survived by her sons - Daniel Lee "Danny" McKinnis and his wife Diana, John Lynn McKinnis and his wife Shirley, and her grandchildren - Marsha and Chad Blew, Sherrie and Mark Worley, Jake and Sara McKinnis, Leslie and Jeff Bland, and Andrew and Raelene McKinnis. She is survived by her great-grandchildren - Tyler Bland, Lydia Blew, Ethan McKinnis, Zane Bland, Cooper Worley, Ike McKinnis, Norah Blew, Micah Bland, Trever Worley, Xander McKinnis, Jackson McKinnis, Donovan Blew, Madilynn McKinnis and Hannah McKinnis.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Prague Memorial Hosptial or Sequoyah State Park Nature Center, both organizations that nurtured the McKinnis family and cared for Dan and Evelyn.
