Standlee's Obituary
Standlee Wayne Bernet was born on September 13, 1933, at his family home in Watonga, Oklahoma, to Vada Ann Stratton Bernet and Calvin Jake "Callie" Bernet.
Wayne was preceded in death by his parents.
Wayne graduated with honors from Central High School in Oklahoma City on June 6, 1951. He continued his education at the University of Oklahoma, where he earned a Bachelor of Arts degree on June 5, 1955, as part of the University's 63rd commencement ceremony.
Following college, Wayne moved to Los Angeles, where he worked briefly for a major Hollywood studio. As an only child, he soon realized his heart was in Oklahoma. Having lost his father several years earlier, he returned to Oklahoma City to help care for his mother.
After returning home, Wayne pursued a new career, graduating from Paul's University of Beauty Culture in 1957. He became a highly respected and successful hairstylist, spending many years serving clients at Camio Salon and later at Hairport. He was known not only for his professional talent but also for the lasting relationships he built throughout his career.
After the passing of his mother, Wayne's friends became his extended family. Their companionship and love meant the world to him, and he treasured those relationships throughout his life.
Wayne never met a stranger and had a unique talent for connecting people with one another. He found great joy in introducing friends, helping others find what they needed, and creating lasting connections. Those acts of kindness became one of the many ways he touched the lives of those around him.
Wayne also had a deep love for his home. He took immense pride in making it beautiful, constantly working on decorating, remodeling, and improving it. His home reflected his creativity and was a place where he found happiness and contentment.
Wayne will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him.
