Patricia's Obituary

Patricia “Patty” Josephine (Wilcox) Peddicord, left this earth to join her Lord and her beloved husband, Ellie, on February 28, 2021.

Born March 17, 1926 in Topeka, KS to Edward and Hazel Wilcox, she walked through life with an infectious smile, an inner happiness and a welcoming embrace felt by all those who knew and loved her.

Patty was a proud graduate of Topeka High School, Class of 1944, where during her tenure, she contributed to World War II by volunteering at the USO in Topeka, KS where she lifted the spirits of the soldiers with her humor and dancing. She worked at an egg drying plant which provided provisions for the soldiers and also at J.C. Penney selling fabrics, even eliciting compliments from Mr. Penney himself. After high school, she attended Kansas State University and graduated with a home economics degree which served her well and she referenced often. Her connection to her alma mater ran deep, being a member of their alumni association for so many years her membership was eventually waived. Her signature attire would reflect her ”Purple Pride”.

She married Ellis “Ellie” Eugene Peddicord on March 7, 1948 in Topeka, KS and had many memorable years farming alongside Ellie and his extended family and raising their beloved children in Wamego, KS. In 1972, they moved with their youngest daughter to Idabel, OK. In later years she and Ellie moved to the Dallas/Ft. Worth area where they lived and together operated several storage facilities. After Ellie’s death, she retired to Edmond, OK, near her youngest daughter and family.

Patty lived her life one day at a time with humor and warmth. She enjoyed sewing and cooking, always adding an extra special touch of detail. She was fascinated with family history, recording her life as well as her ancestors. She was a faithful member of the Memorial Road Church of Christ, where she enjoyed the company of her fellow brothers and sisters in Christ. Her sweet smile and gentle spirit made her a favorite everywhere she went. Her unconditional love for her family was matched only by her love for Jesus Christ. She lived a quiet, powerful faith and passed on this legacy to her children and grandchildren.

Patty was preceded in death by her husband, Ellis Peddicord of Wamego, KS, and her parents, Edward V. and Hazel G. Wilcox of Topeka, KS; brother, Max Wilcox of Topeka, KS; sister, Polly Wilson of Wichita, KS. She is survived by three daughters, Amy Hansen of Austin, TX; daughter Sheryl (Roy) Stephenson of Waller, TX; daughter Pennie (Greg) Green of Edmond, OK, and one son, Randy (Debbie) Peddicord of Dalhart, TX. Three grandsons, De (Karen) Hansen, Tucker (Kim) Peddicord and Rory (Jamie) Peddicord. Four granddaughters, Hannah Peddicord, Amy Stephenson (Todd) Twardowski, Sarah Stephenson (Andy) Marcus and Paige Green (Garrett) Marshall.  Great-grandchildren, Hunter Hansen; Bella and Colton Peddicord; Cali and Winn Twardowski; Ellie and Emma Marcus; Eli, Sophie, Gideon and Corban Peddicord. Sister in law, Rita (Erich) Groess, brother in law, Gerald Peddicord and many wonderful nieces, nephews and extended family members.
