Mary's Obituary
Mary Louise Pendleton, resident of Villagio of Bradford Assisted Living, Edmond, OK and formerly of Enid, Oklahoma
Mary Lou was born September 22, 1925 in Fullerton, California to Frank Armstrong Treadwell and Ruby Esmay Treadwell. In 1934 she moved with her family to Siloam Springs, Arkansas where her father was a member of the faculty of John Brown University.
She died on December 20, 2020 at the age of 95.
She married Rev. O. Edmund Pendleton on December 19, 1943 in Siloam Springs, Arkansas. Her husband preceded her in death June 6, 2002. She was a loving and supportive wife to her husband for 58 ½ years. She had two loving and beloved sisters, Ruth C. Crenshaw of Lubbock, Texas and Barbara A. McCartney of Gentry, Arkansas, both of whom preceded her in death.
Music and ministry was the center of their life.
Mary Lou retired in 1990 from the Phillips University Seminary library, Enid, Oklahoma where she had worked for seven years. She served as Christian Women’s Fellowship Regional President in Arkansas for two years and a short term as Regional Moderator of The Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) in Arkansas.
She is survived by three sons and a daughter, Rev. Dennis F. Pendleton and wife Dr. Barbara Porter of Colorado Springs, Colorado, E. Michael Pendleton and wife Sandra of Norman, Oklahoma, David R. Pendleton and wife Kathleen of Edmond, Oklahoma and daughter Linda L. Petersen and husband Keith of Little Rock, Arkansas, 11 grandchildren and many great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
She is remembered by her family and all who knew her to be an exemplary woman of love and faithful service to her Lord Jesus Christ and as a mother, grandmother, and great grandmother “GG” who shared that love fully with all who crossed her path.
Memorial service in Edmond, Ok will be set at a later date. Graveside service will be held at Edgewood Memorial Park in North Little, Rock, Arkansas.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to John Brown University, Siloam Springs, AR or Phillips Theological Seminary, Tulsa, OK.
