George's Obituary
George Lyle Carpenter was born August 5, 1936, in Oskaloosa, Missouri to George and Pearl Carpenter. He died on October 29, 2025. A service to remember him and celebrate his life will take place on Saturday, November 8, at 11 a.m. in the Chapel of St. Mary at All Souls’ Episcopal Church, located at 6400 N. Pennsylvania Avenue, Oklahoma City, OK, 73116.
George was married twice, first to Shirley Ann Warren, and later to Robbie Lea Lawson. George is survived by his daughter, Tammy Mass and husband Chip of Edmond, OK; grandchildren, Warren Whisler and April Belt and husband Jon, all of Oklahoma City, OK. George is preceded in death by his 7 sisters, and 1 brother.
George loved to fish, hunt, listen to country music, play cards, play a round of golf, collect fun vehicles and work on his ’55 Chevy and drag racing (earning many trophy’s and prize money). He was a devoted husband, doting father and greatly loved his grandchildren. George was in the Army and was decorated for his shooting skills. Following his military service he, spent the next 40 years working for AWG (formerly Homeland and Safeway) in the distribution plant in Oklahoma City and then retired.
Everyone that met him knew he was kind, gracious and, was always open for a big hug, smile and a quick wink of the eye. He respected honesty and humor and knew the value of hardwork and appreciated these traits in others.
The family would like to extend their sincere gratitude to Mercy Hospice, St. Ann’s and All Souls’ Episcopal Church. Their loving dedication provided a pathway for George to have many happy days, excellent care and peace at the end.
