Elise's Obituary

Elise Weed, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, friend and Christian, passed away on August 14, 2025 at the age of 92.

Elise was born on April 25, 1933 at St. Anthony’s Hospital in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma to D.E. “Bill” and Puilla Hodges.  She spent her childhood in Oklahoma City, Bartlesville, and Newkirk. Elise went on to attend the University of Oklahoma, where she earned her Bachelor’s Degree in Business. She was a lifelong member of the Psi Chapter of Gamma Phi Beta.

Elise married the love of her life, Jim Weed in 1954. They were blessed with three children; Wendy, Tom and Karen. They were faithful in their walk with God and attended church wherever they lived. Her career was spent serving others with excellence and dedication. She worked in the banking industry and in a Corporate Trust Department in Dallas, TX. Elise also gave 73 years of service to several State and International P.E.O. Sisterhoods, an organization she cherished deeply.

After retirement in 1991, they moved to the Jemez Mountains in New Mexico, where they enjoyed the beauty of nature and the quiet pace of mountain living. In 2002, they returned home to Oklahoma City where they lived until they were united with their Heavenly Father.

Elise found joy in Bible study, playing bridge, reading, and working puzzles of all kinds. She lived her life with faith, kindness, and a thoughtful spirit, leaving behind a legacy of warmth and love that touched countless lives.

She is survived by her three children: Wendy Strain and husband Anthony of Los Alamos, New Mexico; Tom Weed and wife Mari of Chisago, Minnesota; and Karen Bowser and husband Jeff of Oklahoma City, four grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.



She will be dearly missed.
