Doris's Obituary

Doris Mae “Sonne” (Carlson) Linhoff, 95, was a beautiful, vivacious woman who loved to be out and about, chatting with people, having fun. She was a wonderful daughter, wife and mother, and a true friend to all who knew her. She passed peacefully in Oklahoma City OK on September 9, 2021.

Born in 1926 in Minneapolis, Minnesota, Sonne was the only child of Axel Carlson and Marie Oehler Carlson Wolff, and the light of their lives. She was blessed to be happily married to Frank R. Linhoff, the love of her life, for more than 63 years. They were born one day apart, grew up together in Willmar, Minnesota, dated in high school and were married in 1946 after Frank returned from his service in World War II. Together they raised three children with much joy and good humor, giving of themselves tirelessly.

Due to Frank’s work for J.C. Penny and other retail stores, they lived in several towns in Minnesota, Wisconsin, Missouri, and Texas. In the early 1970s, they settled in Oklahoma City. Doris left her job as head of Fidelity Bank’s Operations Area in Oklahoma City to join Frank when they started their own business, Linhoff's Cleaners, which they operated until retiring in the late 1980s. Doris continued to work part-time and cared for Frank in his declining years; he passed in 2009.

She enjoyed a multitude of activities including fishing and playing golf with her husband, the outdoors, boating and camping. A lifelong bridge player, she was a member of several card clubs. Throughout her life she was active in many organizations including Sacred Heart Catholic Church guild and altar society.

She is survived by her children: Tom (and wife Linda Ray) Linhoff of Kansas City MO, Merry (and Jay) Guben of Worton MD and Jane (and Andrew) Putnam of Oklahoma City OK; seven grandchildren: Joe Linhoff, Elizabeth Pomplun, John Linhoff, Katherine Linhoff, James Linhoff, Nathan Putnam, and Emily Holthaus; and seven great-grandchildren. She was a great supporter and very proud of all her children. We have been blessed to have had her in our lives.
