Wanda's Obituary
Our beautiful wife and Mom was born September 12, 1936 in Roosevelt, Oklahoma. She died April 22, 2026 at her home in Oklahoma City.
In addition to caring for her own children, Mom provided childcare in the home for other children until her youngest was in middle school. She then worked as the principal's aid at Nichols Hills Elementary School mainly providing assistance to children in the cafeteria while their teachers ate in the teacher's lounge. She also had an Avon route back when it was sold door to door. Later she worked as secretary to the pastor at our church Britton Assembly of God.
Mom was always active in church until she was physically unable to attend. She sang for weddings & funerals, participated in the women's ministry program and later became the leader of the Missionettes girl's clubs.
When Mom's family moved to Oklahoma City, she met her future husband, Stanley Smith, at church. They were married May 13, 1952. Stanley died in 1991. She then married Rev. Verlin Stewart, a retired missionary and enjoyed traveling with him until he passed 10 years later. J U Bishop and Mom would have celebrated 22 years together May 29. She had hoped to live until we celebrate his 100th birthday in October.
Mom was proceeded in death by her parents Orville and Gladys Stafford, brothers Earl and Winfred, sister Margarette Seale, husbands Stanley Smith and Verlin Stewart and son Ralph.
She is survived by sisters Frances Cook and Winona Grisham, children Stan Smith (Nanci) and Gayla Smith, stepchildren Rhonda Bishop, Mark Bishop (Melani), David Bishop, Charles Stewart, granddaughters Amy Wells (Andy Morgan), Kristen Harris (Brian), Lindsey Fulson (Michael), great granddaughters Addison Wells, Trista Harris, Arley Morgan, Maleah Fulson and many nieces & nephews.
Special thank you to Trinity Hospice for their loving care during her last days.
