Virginia's Obituary

Virginia Lee (Burdick) Haws passed to her heavenly home on April 9, 2021. Virginia was born April 10, 1941 in Edmond, Oklahoma to Ernest Emery Burdick and Eunice Rebecca (Eldredge) Burdick. Virginia grew up in Edmond and attended Edmond schools. She graduated from Central State College (now UCO) with a degree in Elementary Education and taught school for a number of years. She married her high school sweetheart, Tim Haws, on November 18, 1960. They were blessed with three children; Terri Lynn, Timothy Dean and Toby Michael. At twelve years of age, Virginia attended the Nazarene boys and girls summer camp and gave her heart to the Lord. She was a member of Edmond First Church of the Nazarene. She loved reading poetry, gardening and music. There was always music played or sung around the house. Virginia is survived by a daughter, Terri Eggers (Eric) of St. Louis, Missouri, two sons, Timothy Dean Haws (Lisa) of Bethany, Oklahoma, and Toby Michael Haws of Edmond, Oklahoma. Five grandchildren, Emily Metz (Tanner), Ben Stern (Angela), Jackson Haws, Grayson Haws and Hudson Haws. Three great grandchildren, Grant Metz, Ginny Metz and Maeva Metz. Two brothers, Ernest Lynn Burdick (Angela) of Yukon, Oklahoma and John Burdick (Deborah) of Moore, Oklahoma. Three sisters, Elva Jean Kellogg of Columbus, Indiana, Dolores Roberts of Edmond and Dorothy Cheatwood of Edmond. She also leaves behind many beloved nieces, nephews and cousins. Virginia was preceded in death by her parents Ernest and Eunice Burdick, two brothers Bob Burdick (Arleen) and Jim Burdick (Pauline) and her beloved husband Tim Haws to whom she was married for 44 years. The celebration of Virginia Lee Haws’ life will be held on May 29, 2021 at Edmond First Church of the Nazarene. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Virginia’s honor to The34project.org. The 34 Project is an organization providing life changing therapy for persons with paralysis due to spinal injury right here in Bethany, Oklahoma. The facility is scheduled to open in July 2021.
