Virgil's Obituary

Virgil Kenneth Reschke was born August 10, 1942, in Perry, Oklahoma to Charles Manford and Pauline Elizabeth (Moran) Reschke.  During Virgil’s youth, the family moved to Oklahoma City. He graduated from John Marshall High School.  At age 18, he joined Haskell Lemon Construction, the beginning of a long successful career in road construction. He worked his way to Project Manager building roads and highways across the State of Oklahoma, and Missouri winning various Project Management achievement awards from the Oklahoma Department of Transportation.  He married Linda Reschke on March 31, 1989 and moved to 3 acres outside of Tecumseh, Oklahoma where he finished out his career, retired, and finished building the “work shop” of his dreams. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, camping with family, being handyman extraordinaire, telling jokes, reading history books about Oklahoma and the Old West, and eating good barbeque with family and friends. He loved spending time with his wife, children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. He passed away on January 29, 2022. He is survived by his wife Linda of Tecumseh, his daughter Elizabeth Reschke of Overland Park, KS, his son Alan and wife Laura and granddaughter Paige Elizabeth of Overland Park, step-son Stacy Hamilton of Fargo, OK, step-daughter Kathy Cartwright and husband Rick of Sand Springs, OK, his grandson Tyler Littlebear , granddaughter Shayla Hamilton, Jessika Henry and husband Wyatt, great-grandchildren Canaan and Aryzona. He is also survived by his younger brother Leon and family of Springfield, MO. He was very much loved and will be missed every day. We will especially miss being told by Dad and Papaw that sometimes “you have to listen in order to learn something”. Most of all we will mis his big smirk and very big heart. Say hi to God for us.

Visitation will be at Demuth Funeral Home at 1145 W. Britton Rd, Oklahoma City, OK from 10 AM to 5 PM Thursday, February 3rd. Services will be held at Immanuel Lutheran Church 1800 NW 36th in Oklahoma City at 2 PM on Friday, February 4th. There will be a viewing prior to services for thirty to forty-five minutes and again following services. He will be laid to rest next to his parents at Memorial Park Cemetery in Oklahoma City. A Memorial Fund has been established in loving memory of Virgil Kenneth Reschke at Immanuel Lutheran Church of Oklahoma City, OK.
