Sue graduated Idabel High School as Class-of-1947 Valedictorian and Southeastern

Oklahoma State University in 1950, ranking in the top 10%, with a major in English and minor in Business Education. She did graduate work in Liberal Arts at SEOSU and the University of Oklahoma, later teaching two semesters of freshman English for Southeastern.

Sue married Billy George Green on September 23, 1948. They taught together in Comanche, OK, for six weeks before Bill's recall as a Reserve to the Korean War. She taught at Ft. Hood, Texas; Camp Breckenridge. They lived in Poole, KY, before returning home to Idabel, Oklahoma. In 1977, Sue was named Teacher of the year. Both were schoolteachers and ended their careers together at Idabel High School.  Sue was an Idabel Warrior, a powerful prayer warrior spending a great majority of every morning in prayer.

Sue, affectionately known to many people as Mimsie, was passionate about her family and extended family! Her grands brought her endless joy. She gave them undivided attention and her face lit up when they entered the room. She loved photographing, writing about them, and was always sharing their achievements. Among her favorite things, were clowning with the Spencer family, visiting rest homes, hospitals, making phone calls, writing notes, letters, and emails, as well as face-booking to keep in touch.  Most of all, she enjoyed family celebrations, especially of her 39th birthday year after year, as well as family meals together, spending time visiting with friends, studying her Bible, reading, writing, and traveling.

Sue delighted in her church families of  Bypass Church of Christ in Idabel and Memorial Road Church of Christ in Edmond, attending services, participating in teaching and writing literature for VBS and various classes, helping plan programs, speaking for Ladies’ Day Retreats and missions, presenting local and area slide programs and workshops on motivations, teaching techniques, and creative writing, acting as staff-photographer and author of the CHRISTIAN BIBLE TEACHER, co-writing with her husband, freelancing and contributing articles and poetry to local newspapers and Christian publications such as THE CHRISTIAN WOMAN, CHRISTIAN BIBLE TEACHER, MINISTER'S, POWER FOR TODAY, and GOSPEL LIGHT. She reached her goal of teaching an equal number of years in public school and in teaching/writing/publishing for "church-related activities" for over thirty years.

Sue touched countless numbers of lives through her years of teaching and writing and was a constant encourager, writing cards and notes often to family and friends. Her writing desk was covered with devotional thoughts and scriptures with her signature “short hand” on all that she read or reviewed.  Our Mom, Mimsie, and Sue will be loved forever and forever in our hearts.

A funeral service is being held at Memorial Road Church of Christ, 2221 E. Memorial Rd., Friday, September 22, 2023, at 2:00 P.M. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to Memorial Road Church of Christ with a note of “Sue Green Memorial Mombasa Fund”.
