Seth's Obituary

Seth Alexander McGraw departed this earthly life on the 25
th of September 2024 at the age of 23, and through salvation was welcomed into the arms of his Savior and Lord, Jesus Christ. He was born on the 4th of May, 2001 at Fort Sill, Oklahoma. Seth was greeted in heaven by his grandfather Irby Grayson, and his grandmothers Mary Grayson and Fleta McGraw. He is survived by his paternal grandfather Wendell McGraw, adoring parents Ladd and Laurie McGraw, his big brother Carson, and little sister MacKenzie. Seth is also loved immensely by his surviving aunts, uncles, and cousins. He will additionally be remembered by friends, gym buddies, and fellow Sailors.

Seth loved music and was musically inclined. Through the years he played the trumpet, French horn, and drums. He was a 3-year drum major for the Pride of Piedmont High school marching band. He loved going to concerts and had a true and broad appreciation of musical art.

Seth became fitness-focused as a freshman in high school. Leveraging his self-discipline and determination he transformed his physical fitness. He routinely got up early to go to the gym before he went to school. The gym became his second home and many of his best friends were met at a gym. Seth eventually became a competitive powerlifter, winning awards both before and after his accident.

Seth volunteered to serve his nation in the U.S. Navy as a Hospital Corpsman. He graduated the Hospital Corpsman Basic Course and Cardiovascular Technician Course in San Antonio, Texas before moving to San Diego, California for the final phase of training. On April 8th, 2022, Seth was hit by a car while riding his motorcycle. God worked through three complete strangers to save his life that day, and his soul several months later. As a result of his injuries, he was medically retired in August 2023.

Seth was known for his strong will and determination, but his true strength was his kindness and compassion.  His most prized possession was his relationship with Jesus. He humbly and generously shared his testimony, prayers, and blessings with the needy and less fortunate. He was wise beyond his years and a true disciple of Christ.

Seth was a kind, generous, funny, loving man who lit up the lives of everyone who knew him. He made the world a better place. Our memories of Seth’s gentle blue eyes, infectious smile, and his kind measured words will forever be cherished.

A memorial service is being held at Bethany First Church of the Nazarene, 6789 N.W. 39 Expy, Bethany on Friday, November 8, 2024 at 2:00 P.M.

Colossians 4:6

Let your speech always be with grace, as though seasoned with salt, so that you will know how you should respond to each person.
