Patricia's Obituary

Patricia Joanne Lauffenburger, daughter of Ruth and James Madden, mother of Ken, Dean, Mark and Karen Lauffenburger and spouse to Raymond Lauffenburger died peacefully at home and joined our lord on March 11, 2021.

Patricia was born on January 21, 1932 and spent her childhood in Chicago. After high school Pat attended Northwestern University years before her marriage to Raymond Lauffenburger on December 22, 1956. After retirement Pat and Ray traveled the U.S. settling for a time in Bella Vista, AR and Sun City Grande, AZ before settling down in Edmond, OK.

Pat remained industrious throughout her life as a member of the church choir, community organizations and volunteer for Autism Oklahoma fund-raising events. She took a special interest in all activities of her grandchildren spending time with all of them no matter where they may be. Pat excelled at poetry and creative writing. She painted landscapes in earlier years and won an award for some of her photographic work. She appreciated the artistic works of those she knew personally and surrounded herself with their works. Family history was special to Pat and she cherished the treasures she had collected over the years.

Pat’s family and friends remember her as outgoing and especially caring and giving to those they cared about—our friends became her friends. She developed many lasting bonds with people in this way. She was fun-loving and adventurous, and enjoyed and dreamed of travel. She had a great sense of humor and her laughter was contagious. Her grandchildren remember her as the life of the party while playing games. She was also blessed with an attitude of acceptance and forgiveness that enabled her to weather through tragedies and adverse situations that she encountered during her life.

Pat has always had a soft heart for animals. Her sons remember the baby rabbits found in a window well that she nursed until they were able to be released back to the wild. Also their reptilian pets that she endured with them and helped them take care of. During the last few years she could rarely been seen without her rescue dog Lacy that was her constant and loving companion.

Pat is survived by sons Kenneth Alan Lauffenburger (Angela), Dean Curtis Lauffenburger (Melinda), Mark Stewart Lauffenburger (Joni), grandsons Samuel Lauffenburger (Elizabeth), Eli Lauffenburger (Courtney), Joy Lauffenburger, Sarah Lauffenburger, Nathan Jon Lauffenburger (Tiara), and Joseph Ray Lauffenburger, as well as great grandchildren Jane and Virginia (Sam/Elizabeth) and Kyler (Nate/Tiara). Pat is preceded in death by husband Ray Lauffenburger and daughter Karen Lauffenburger.

Celebration of Pat’s life will be held on Friday, May 14th at 11 AM at Church of the Servant, Celebration Center in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. In lieu of flowers, remembrances can be made to charities that Pat was passionate about including:
