Patricia's Obituary

Patricia Helen Walker Stanton was born on July 7,1928 in Ogdensburg, Ny. She was one of 7 children of George and Nettie Walker. She graduated from high school and went on to learn secretarial skills at the Wallace School of business in Ogdensburg. She worked for Geary Chevrolet in the office for years and loved her job. She was the last of her siblings to pass away on Christmas morning, Dec.25, 2023. In November of 1951, She married Robert F. Stanton (who was killed on the job in 1968). They had two daughters, Barbe von Netzer, of Oklahoma City and Margaret Cummings of Ogdensburg, NY. She leaves behind her daughters and son in law, Randy von netzer and two grandchildren, Taylor Lyon (and husband Scott, daughter Nona)of Ft. Wayne, IN and Tyler Cummings (and wife Julie and their children Logan and Violet) of Calais Maine.. along with step grandchildren, Brigetta Barksdale, Dallas, TX. Jordan von Netzer (Los Angeles) and Natalie Movagar (Newport Ca) and their children. Two years after she was widowed, she met and had a wonderful 10 year relationship w Barry Szabo who lived close by in Canada, during which they traveled often and loved bowling and the casinos and they remained lifelong friends. Barry was a hairdresser who took care of all of the Stanton girls. Gee, as she was affectionately known to everyone, loved life and was always ready to go and do whatever whenever! She never said no when asked! She walked 3 miles a day, into her 80’s, exercised, played tennis, golf and spent a month w her daughter Barbe in San Francisco every year for 14 years… she also loved playing cards w other friends and family. She was a devoted mother and grandmother. She spent winters in Oklahoma City to get out of the cold and in 2018 relocated to Oklahoma City after a series of health issues which hindered her from climbing her stairs at home in upstate NY. She moved into an independent retirement home for 2 years but when Covid started in 2020, Barbe and Randy moved her in with them for 9 months before renting a house nearby (w her roomie and caregiver Andi). She was pampered every day of her life there. Her worst fear was being alone and they made sure she was never alone. For the past several months she was on hospice care, Lifespring, who in the end were fantastic. She was blessed with wonderful caregivers Dr. David Wilson, Andi, Maria, Helen, Angel, Taleena, Nicole and her crush Coco (she loved beautiful people!!) She will be remembered as having a zest for life, a devoted mother and grandmother, a lover of games and casinos, a wonderful sense of humor, and a desire to do anything and everything. She had endless amounts of energy! Before she passed, her daughter whispered in her ear “ you can go now …. you did your job well, Mom. You were a wonderful mother.” She accomplished her goal of raising two independent daughters. There will be a memorial service Jan 26 in OKC and a graveside service in upstate NY at the end of July. She loved her grand dogs, Coco and Daisy .. with that being said, Memorial contributions may be made to SmallPawsRescue.org or her favorite charity stjude.org
