Sharon's Obituary

FRADY, Opal “Sharon”, 88, of Okla City, died Nov. 30, 2021 in Oklahoma City at home. Born Nov 20, 1933 in Pauls Valley, Ok: to Paul and Ann Baker. Fairly early in life she attended Pauls Valley High School, where she met and dated Julian Fields [Fields Pecan Pies], but the relationship ultimately ended… his loss! After graduating from Pauls Valley High, she attended the University of Oklahoma… played in the band, and in 1951, she fell in love with James Garner, but James left her for Hollywood… his loss, and she got over it! She’s 0–2 at this point, with one strike left at the plate… altar, and wondering if men are even worth it! Just when she was about to give up on ‘em… a short, well-built, handsome fella from West Virginia by the name of Fred Frady, finally swept her off her feet and the two entered into marriage until the death of Fred in 2004. She remained a widow until her death.

Later in life Sharon loved traveling with her husband attending Bluegrass Festivals, and later became the vice-president of the ‘Oklahoma Bluegrass Assn’ for a short time after her husband’s death. She was a lifelong bowler and was inducted into the United States Bowling Congress “Oklahoma City Women’s Bowling Hall of Fame.” She frequently made road trips to Nascar events. She also was an original Thunder season ticket holder [beginning with the New Orleans/Okla City Hornets], and later gave up her seats to a dear friend. Sharon finally decided to call it quits… she had had enough, and retired from OKC Public Schools at the young age of 85. Yes… just three years ago. Her remaining three years she battled, and I mean battled an extremely aggressive Alzheimer disease valiantly, that she couldn’t overcome… she was no match for it. God bless her so…we’ll miss her so! " And God will wipe away every tear from their eyes; there shall be no more death, nor sorrow, nor crying. There shall be no more pain, for the former things have passed away.” Revelation 21:4

Sharon is preceded in death by her father and mother… Paul Baker and Ann Baker Tate. Her husband Fred. Her only sibling, brother… Jim Baker. Her daughter in-law… Lisa Frady.

Sharon is survived by a host of yayhoo’s, starting with her two sons… Bret Frady [widower] and Chip Frady with his life partner… Linda Gronewaller. Grand children… Darwin Frady Jr, Nikki Hutsenpiller and Lauren Dillon. Great grandchildren… Kamron Martin, Gabby Moffitt, Kade Dillon, Kennedy Dillon, and Daeton Carson.

Funeral service  will be held at 10:00 A.M. on Thursday, December 9 at Quail Springs Baptist Church, 14613 N May Ave, Oklahoma City, OK US 73134.

Flowers will be loving received by the family c/o QSBC… the day of service only.
