Mary's Obituary

Mary Louise Knowles was born on March 3, 1937 to JD and Myrtle Armstrong. On October 19, 2024 Mary joined the angels in heaven, where she is most certainly rejoicing and singing. Mary and her husband, Ken Knowles, have been mainstays at the Memorial Road Church of Christ for most of their lives. It’s hard to think of a couple more kind and gentle. One always walked away from a conversation with Mary (and Ken!) feeling encouraged and built up. Mary had an amazing laugh and smile and used both frequently. She was a joyful servant of God who brightened any room she was in and she will be greatly missed by so many. Mary loved singing hymns and had a beautiful voice. She enjoyed singing with the Sonlight Singers, a church women’s singing group.

Mary predeceased her loving husband Ken Knowles, to whom she was married 68 years. She is survived by her family which includes daughters Sheri Vanhooser and Julie French (Tom). Mary & Ken have five grandchildren, Landen Vanhooser (Patricia), Lauren Jacoby (Jeremy), Lindsey Vanhooser Sherwood (Derek), Andrew French (Chelsea) and Kadee French Fitzgerald (Ryan). Mary and Ken have seven great grandchildren: Maddie & Ethan Vanhooser, Jude & Parker Jacoby, L. & C. Sherwood and Ford French. Mary and Ken have a great-great grandchild, Oakley Vanhooser. 

A service in celebration of her life and a visitation with the family will occur at Memorial Road Church of Christ on October 25, 2024. You are welcome to come visit with the family on Friday, October 25 in the church foyer from 12:30-1:30 p.m. A service in celebration of her life will follow at 1:30 p.m. in the church auditorium, with a graveside service afterward at Memorial Park Cemetery.
