Martin's Obituary


Devoted husband, loving and supportive father, grandfather, and great-grandfather.
Martin “Marty” Justin Blazy passed as peacefully as he lived life on Monday, April 3, 2023 in Edmond, Oklahoma. He was 89, just a month shy of his 90th birthday.
He was born in 1933 in Pottersville, New York. His family moved to Woodstock, New York in 1941, where he attended elementary and middle school, then completed high school in Kingston, New York. He graduated from the State University of New York, Institute of Applied Arts and Sciences in White Plains. He was immediately hired as a draftsman by General Electric. In June of 1966, he, along with other New York GE employees and their families, made the move south to a GE plant in Oklahoma City. He would continue at that location his entire career.
He is survived by his wife of 67 years, Doris Blazy, of Edmond, Oklahoma. They were married May 15, 1955 in Schenectady, New York. In 1967, they became founding members of the Church of the Servant in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma.
He is also survived by his four children, Martin R. Blazy and wife Janet, Victoria Kyte and husband Donald Kyte, Jeff Blazy and wife Lynn, Alex Blazy and wife Kristin. 
He was a loving and caring grandfather to eight grandchildren Martin and Janet's children, Rhianna Blazy and Ryan Blazy; Victoria’s children, Craig W. Sanger II and wife Staci; Justin M. Sanger and wife Alice; Jeff and Lynn's children, Jack Blazy and Nicholas Blazy; and Alex and Kristin's children, Stephen and Kinzie McNaught.
His six great-grandchildren include Justin’s children, Able, Zoe (and husband William Rummel), Brody, Craigory, and Maya Sanger. Also Rhodes McNaught, the son of Stephen and Megan McNaught.
He is also survived by his sister-in-law Deborah Hall, brother-in-law Robert A. Pulver, and nephew Kent Blazy.
In New York, Marty was a member of the Independent Order of Odd Fellows. In Oklahoma City, he was a member of the Elks Club, where he became a Lecturing Knight. He volunteered for the Epilepsy Foundation and was a longtime member of The Crescent Society.
During retirement, Marty and Doris traveled the U.S. and parts of the world. Marty enjoyed listening to a variety of music, including big band, swing, country and western, classic hits, and comedy albums. He loved listening to the radio and telling jokes. He collected big band and Spike Jones 78 RPM albums from their original release.
He was a cancer survivor and recovered quickly from two strokes.
