Clyde's Obituary
Clyde Franklin Taylor was born on Sunday, February 6, 1938, to Walter Taylor and Esther (Young) Mounday. He was their only child. After a brief illness, he transitioned to his heavenly reward on Monday, February 10, 2025. His mother and father preceded him in death.
He was 87.
Clyde was an only child by birth, but he and his cousins Leonard and Floyd Blair were raised as brothers in Green Pastures, known now as Spencer, Ok.
As the valedictorian of the Class of 1958, Clyde graduated from the all-black Dunjee High School in Green Pastures, Ok. After graduation, he enlisted in the United States Air Force, rising in rank to Master Sergeant and retiring in 1977, a career spanning 20 years as a general service manager.
Clyde’s first union was with his high school classmate, Delores Jean Jackson, and three children were born: Deena, Stacy, and Rhonda.
He later united in Holy Matrimony to Margaret Louise in 1976, creating a blended family, adding Margaret’s daughter, Karen Wilson. The two enjoyed 48 years together until his death.
He earned an Associate’s Degree from Rose State College and a Bachelor of Science in Education degree from the University of Central Oklahoma (UCO), both with honors. He jump-started his encore career as a vocational teacher with Oklahoma City Public Schools (OKCPS) and MetroTech in 1977, retiring in 1993.
During his tenure as an educator, he was awarded several accolades, including but not limited to the Distributive Education Outstanding Senior in 1981; UCO Alumni Association Lifetime Membership in 1981; the National Association for the Advancement of Black Americans in Vocational Education in 1993; and the Marketing Education Students of Oklahoma in 1993.
During the summer up until early winter, Clyde loved and was passionate about maintaining sculptured and manicured lawns, not just his yard but also his neighbor’s yards, free of charge.
He leaves to cherish his memories with his wife, Margaret; daughters, Karen Wilson and Deena Thomas, OKC; Stacy Ford (Michael), Hurst, Texas; Rhonda Pratt, Round Rock, Texas; his grandchildren: Kevin Wilson, Perry Watson, Katherine (Kendall) Myers, OKC; Taylin Watson, Victoria Thomas, and Kenneth Pratt, Dallas, Texas; Virginia Thomas, Lakeland, Florida; and Christopher Pope, Emporia, Kansas; plus, five great-grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
A memorial service will be held at Demuth Funeral Home on Friday, February 14, 2025 at 2:00 P.M.
