WOLTZ, The Rev. Charles M., 88, of Norman, Oklahoma, died January 25, 2025 in Norman after a long illness. He was born in 1936 in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma to Elzo and Fay Woltz. After service in the U.S. Army and graduation from Central State University, he taught high school English and was later an instructor in English at the University of Oklahoma. After a varied career as a writer, editor, and business manager and owner, he was ordained as a deacon in the Episcopal Church, and served for 22 years on the staff of Episcopal Diocese of Oklahoma. He served for 19 years as Canon to the Ordinary, and was involved in the Episcopal Church across Oklahoma. After retirement, he volunteered for several years on the Emergency Response Team for Norman Emergency Management. He was married in 1962 to Lillian Martha (Parks) Woltz, who preceded him in death in 1999. He was married to Kathryn (Harris) Woltz from 2004 until her death in 2017. He was also preceded in death by his parents and his sister Betty Ann. He is survived by his son and daughter-in-law Joseph and Barbara Woltz and his son and daughter-in-law, Jonathan Woltz and Kelley Logan, by Tessa and Paul Barsic, by his grandsons Ed and Jim Woltz, by his close friend Marcia Greenwood, and by many other dear friends and family. Services will be on February 8, 2025, at 1:30 p.m., at St. Michael’s Episcopal Church, 1601 W. Imhoff Road, Norman, Oklahoma. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Martha Woltz Endowment at the USAO Foundation, Chickasha, Oklahoma, St. Michael’s Episcopal Church, Norman, Oklahoma, or an animal rescue group of your choice.
