Ann's Obituary

Ann Pearson Leftwich parted this world on Saturday, May 6th, 2023 in Oklahoma City, OK.

Born on October 3rd, 1933, she was the daughter of John Cannon Pearson Jr. and Ila Florence Durham Pearson. Ann grew up in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, graduating from Northeast High School in 1951. She went on to earn a Bachelor of Science in Home Economics and a Master of Science in Chemistry from Oklahoma University in 1977. She was a member of Kappa Alpha Theta Sorority as well as the academic honor society Phi Beta Kappa.

Her area of expertise was nutrition science, in which she consulted in the medical field as a registered and licensed dietition, a professor of chemistry, as well as teaching many years of nursing students science and nutrition at Saint Anthony's School of Nursing, Oklahoma City University, the University of Oklahoma, and the College of Central Oklahoma (UCO) in Edmond.

Ann was active in many educational & professional organizations including P.E.O Chapter CA, Oklahoma Dietetic Association and had the prestigious honor of serving as a lay person on the Oklahoma State Board of Medical Examiners License Review.

Ann married John Perry Leftwich of Cushing, OK in 1954 and is preceded in death by husband John, daughter Ilajean Leftwich, and son David Leftwich. She is survived by their son, Donald Gordon Leftwich and his wife Donna Ann Stephenson Leftwich, daughter Maryann Leftwich Walls, and grandchildren: Alice Pearson Leftwich, Jordyn Rene Walls, Jacob Foster Walls and Benjamin Lucas Walls, as well as great grand-daughter Veronica Clemmons.

Ann Pearson Leftwich was a graceful and beautiful example to her family; balancing family life and an active career as a loving wife, mother, great (nutritious!) cook, political activist, business woman and professor. Her many talents, her wisdom and her love for all of us will be greatly missed!
