Jessie Marie Barnum, of the Village, 88, died August 13, 2022. Born June 22, 1934, in Enid, OK, Jessie Marie arrived 10 minutes after her twin sister, Bessie Merle, to the parents of Ira and Francis Cunningham.

Jessie Marie grew up in Enid with her twin sister and had six other siblings. During her Junior and Senior years of high school she went on to be a telephone operator at the Bell Telephone Company. She graduated from Enid High School in May of 1953.

In the summer of 1950 she met Delbert Barnum, only to see him join the Navy in September. She knew she had found her soul mate, so she waited for him. He had a short 20 day leave from the military, so they spent time together, then he had to go on to his next tour of duty on the USS Burton Island to the Arctic. Finally in November of 1953 Delbert got a 20 day leave and on November 21^st, 1953, they were married.

She had never been outside of the city limits of Enid, OK, but she traveled with her husband to Kansas, Arkansas, Texas, Old Mexico, Arizona and California. It was her first time to see the Pacific Ocean and the first time to see the USS Burton Island.

Jessie Marie and Delbert had two children, Cindy and Keith, who were the joy of their lives. They raised their children, started their own business, a heat and air conditioning company, and bought their dream property at Lake Texoma. The lake house was everything they ever wanted and what made it even more special were all the memories they made with their children and grandchildren over the years. Fishing, bike rides, boat rides, and cooking in the kitchen – Jessie Marie loved the time she spent with her family.

Jessie Marie is preceded in death by her loving husband, Delbert Barnum, parents Ira and Francis Cunningham, brothers Coy Cunningham, Ira Jr. Cunningham, Leroy Cunningham, Gordon Cunningham, and sisters Myrtle Crossfield and Almeda Grassman. She leaves behind her sister, Bessie Merle Unruh; her daughter, Cindy Barnum and her son, Keith Barnum (and wife, Stella); her four grandchildren, Cody Scruggs (and wife, Lisa), Jennifer Coleman (and husband, Ryan), Kristin Dabrowski (and husband, David), Melanie Lovelace (and husband, Robert); her four bonus grandchildren, Miranda Martinez (and husband, Marc), Devin Overstreet, Nathan McWhorter and the late Josh McWhorter; her five great-grandchildren, Grace Frisby, Reed Coleman, Faith Frisby, Jack Lovelace, and Cameran Lovelace. Jessie Marie is also survived by many nieces, nephews and cousins with whom she loved very much. Memorial services will be held at Demuth Funeral Home chapel, Friday, August 19, 2022, at 10:00A.M.
