Jack's Obituary

Jack L. Bedingfield, a respected Oklahoma City architect whose life reflected faith, kindness, and service to others, peacefully passed away Dec. 9, 2025, one month shy of his 91st birthday and days before his 68th wedding anniversary.

Born Jan. 13, 1935, to Dewey and Carrie Bedingfield, he graduated from Central High School in 1953 and earned a bachelor’s degree in architecture from Oklahoma State University in 1959. He received the Outstanding Architecture Student Award for Oklahoma–Texas–New Mexico, selected by the American Institute of Architects, and was a member of Sigma Alpha Epsilon.

Jack practiced architecture for more than 50 years, serving as designer, principal and project manager on projects ranging from churches and schools to major military, educational, aviation and theme park facilities, including Fiesta Texas in San Antonio, as well as projects in the Middle East.

He married Carolyn Brown in 1957 and raised two sons, Todd and Scott, in Nichols Hills. A devoted member of Church of the Servant, he sang in the choir, designed the church columbarium, and served on its board of directors. He was a master craftsman and creative painter.

Jack served his community as a Little League coach, Scout committee chairman — guiding both sons to Eagle Scout — an Exchange Club member, and a longtime leader with Neighborhood Service Organization.

Survivors include his wife, Carolyn; sons Todd (Eva) of Manhattan Beach, CA; and Scott (Stefanie) of La Jolla, CA;  five grandchildren, Austin, Adam, Alexandra, Cullen and Riley Bedingfield; brother Jon (Martha) Bedingfield; brothers-in-law Ken, and Rick Brown (Lenore); and extended family and friends.

The family extends heartfelt thanks to Sara Stevens for her devoted care, the staff at the Mansion at Waterford Assisted Living, and Valir Hospice for their compassion and support.

A service celebrating his life will be held Jan. 13, 2026, in the Chapel at Church of the Servant in Oklahoma City at 2:00 pm on what would have been his 91st birthday.

In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to National Service Organization (NSO); Regional Food Bank; or Free To Live Animal Sanctuary.
