Franklin's Obituary

Franklin Delon Simmons was born in Amarillo, Texas. on October 13, 1959. He was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, nephew, and uncle. He passed away in his home on January 25. 2024 at the age of 64. Frank was the son of Erma Jean Johnson and Roy Houston Simmons. Frank accepted Christ at an early age and rededicated his life at Britton Baptist Church where He and his wife, Shirley of 32 years, would attend to hear the Word of God.



Frank spent his early years in Amarillo, Texas. His family moved to Oklahoma City when he was in middle school. His beloved step-father, C.H. Ransom was an important part of his upbringing. He loved playing football and basketball for Classen High School in Oklahoma City, where he graduated in 1978. He was very athletic and enjoyed running track. He then attended Langston University, Langston, Oklahoma, an HBCU, continuing to play football. He worked as a Banquet Coordinator and a Massage therapist.

Frank loved to sing and had a beautiful voice. He also loved playing music, watching all sports and having cookouts with family and friends. He enjoyed life. He was a friendly and outgoing guy who was never without words.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Erma Jean, a sister, Evelyn Sue and a brother and sister-in-law Henry Lee and Theresa Johnson.

He is survived by his wife Shirley, a daughter, Amber Houston, grandchildren, Miyonne, Arakwan and Aamir. He is also survived by Step-daughters Angela and her family, Adrienne and her family, 2 brothers Harold (Teresa) and Rowedale, a sister Sherri (Charlie) and a host of nieces, nephews and friends. He will be greatly missed by those who were blessed to know and love him!

A memorial service will be held at Britton Baptist Church on Saturday, February 3, 2024 at 11:00 A.M.
