Peggy's Obituary

Peggy J. Hayes, age 87, of Oklahoma City died March 25, 2022 of natural causes.

Peggy was born on November 13, 1934 in McAlester, Oklahoma to James Otto Lambert and Alice Rachel Holland. She attended McCloud High School where she met Robert Hayes. They married in 1960 and moved to Atoka, Oklahoma where they had two children, Mark and Shannon.

Eventually Peggy moved back to Oklahoma City. Peggy's sweet and loving personality led to a lifelong career in customer service, working for Village Bank, Liberty Bank, Oklahoma Sports Science and Orthopedics, and Mercy NW Family Clinic. Peggy was known for her Red Velvet Cake which she made for co-workers, neighbors family and friends on all of their special occasions. However, Peggy's greatest joy was singing. Her daughter bought her a karaoke machine and she would sit in her living room and sing her praise songs. She enjoyed writing poems and hymns, and would create a Christmas poem each year, sharing them with friends and family.

Peggy was preceded in death by her mother Alice Jones, father James Lambert, stepfather Carl Jones, and her son Mark. She is survived by her daughter Shannon Hayes of Oklahoma City, granddaughters Heather and Haley, and great grandchildren Brentley, Pembrooke and Willow. A special thank you to family and friends who helped care for Peggy in the last years of her life.

Peggy will be laid to rest in a graveside ceremony at Dale Cemetery on Tuesday, March 29th at 11:00 a.m.
