LEROY TERRY January 27, 1947 to October 23, 2024 The Village, Oklahoma
LeRoy's Obituary It is with great sadness that the family of LeRoy Terry announce his passing on Wednesday, October 23rd, 2024, in the city of the Village, Oklahoma, following a valiant battle with lung cancer which robbed him daily of oxygen and energy. He was born January 27th, 1947 in Hutchinson, Kansas, to Lacey James Terry and Ruby Lee Walden. LeRoy attended and graduated from Capitol Hill High School and took a number of classes at Oklahoma State University in Stillwater, Oklahoma. At the age of 21 he went to work at the Village Fire Department where he served 20 years before retiring as Deputy Fire Chief and Arson Investigator. He always considered the men he worked with as extended family and never stopped missing the camaraderie and what became lifetime friendships. Always preferring to stay active and busy he and Kathlyn opened OCI Fire Investigations where they worked for 25 years before closing their doors on a second retirement. While he never found retirement to his liking, he took over cooking at home, which he loved to do and spent most evenings on a bench out front watching and visiting with his neighbors. He loved people. LeRoy, affectionately called Cork by family, is survived by his wife Kathlyn, son Steven Lee and his wife Moira, son Alex and daughter Olivia; his son Paul Wayne and his wife MJ and daughter Aoibhinn Isle; his daughter Hunter Etcheverry and her four children, Justin, Laken, Chaeli and Caden and her granddaughter Lakelyn; His two stepdaughters, Vicki Pine, her husband Bob, her daughter Teri, son Chris, and daughter Jessie; stepdaughter Pamela Barton, and her five children and nine grandchildren. LeRoy came from a family of nine children, five of whom survived childhood but who are now deceased, a brother Robert, a brother James, and a brother Jack and an older sister Lee. He is survived by one sister Roseanna "Sandy" and two sisters-in-law, Normandy and Robbie and a host of nieces and nephews. The family will be having a Celebration of Life service, on Thursday, November 14th, 2024 at 10213 Bald Cypress Drive, in the City of Village, 73120, from 2:30 p.m. until 6:30 p.m. The family is requesting in lieu of flowers that donations be made in LeRoy's name to St. Jude's or Free to Live.
