Janet's Obituary

Janet A. Thacker 79 passed away Wednesday January 19, 2022. She was born August 26, 1942, in Kansas City, Missouri to Homer Pursley and Mary Helen Pursley-Forney. Janet married Joe Thacker on September 1, 1962.

Janet enjoyed family time, loved to travel, and served her community. She was a member of First Christian Church, Norman OK for 45 years. Janet was the Director for Norman Senior Citizens Center for over 30 years and retired in 2004. She was a Patient Rep volunteer at Norman Regional Hospital. Janet was a board member of Full Circle Adult Day Center. She was an avid OU basketball fan and proud member of the OU Tippin Club. Janet was awarded "Women of the Year" in 2004 from the Norman Business and Professional Women's Club.

Janet is preceded in death by husband Joe Thacker, her Father Homer Pursley, her Daddy Arthur (Deak) Forney, Mother Mary Helen Forney, and Sister Georgia Sue Pursley.

Janet is survived by her two sons, Jeffrey Thacker and wife Jennifer of Rogers, Arkansas and Jon Thacker and wife Melanie of Norman, Oklahoma; two grandchildren Taylor Hampshire of OKC, Oklahoma and Jacob Thacker of Camp Pendleton, California; and brother Larry Forney and wife Liz of West Branson, Missouri.

In lieu of flowers, the family request memorial donations be made in Janet's honor to First Christian Church of Norman.
