James' Obituary

James William Weed (Jim), 88, went to his heavenly home on Thursday, November 11, 2021. He was a beloved Husband, Dad, Grandfather, Great-Grandfather and a Christian. Born May 5, 1933 in Lawrence, KS to James and Dorothy Weed.

Jim graduated from El Reno High School in 1951 and served in the National Guard. He graduated from the University of Oklahoma with BBA in finance and marketing and was a member of Beta Theta Pi. He married the love of his life, Elise Hodges in 1954.  Jim went on to serve in the United States Navy as a pilot and flew P2V Patrol Bombers in Alaska. He returned to Dallas to establish his career in business at Allstate Insurance; and then to manage a large CPA Firm and later a Law Firm. His last employment before retiring was in San Antonio at Cox and Smith Law Firm. He was a member of the Administrative Management Society where he served in many capacities.  Jim and Elise retired in 1991 and moved to Jemez Springs, NM. They returned home to Oklahoma in 2002 where they became members of Covenant Presbyterian Church and later Church of the Servant.

Jim is preceded in death by his parents and older sister, Nancy. He is survived by his wife, Elise; sister Helen Maher of Lake City, CO.; daughter Wendy Strain and Anthony of Los Alamos, NM; son, Tom and Mari of Chisago, MN; and daughter Karen Bowser and Jeff of Oklahoma City; four grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Free to Live Animal Sanctuary, Guthrie, Oklahoma.
