Harriett Marie Wade Vanhooser, 96, of Edmond, passed away on July 25, 2026. She was born on March 25, 1930, in Charleston, SC.

Harriett was a long-term resident of Edmond, where she built a life centered on her family and her faith. Married 71 years, she was a devoted wife to her husband, Jess. She was also a gifted homemaker, avid reader, and talented seamstress. Her deep southern roots contributed to her love for the outdoors, spending countless hours at the lake, on the sunporch, and working in her yard and garden. A talented children’s Bible class teacher and quiet leader, she was a devoted Christian and loving wife. Harriett was a faithful member of Memorial Road Church of Christ, which she attended until just weeks before her death.

She is survived by her three children: David Vanhooser, MD (Stephanie); Ross Vanhooser, MD; and Leah Avey JD (Brad). She was also blessed with eight grandchildren, eight great grandchildren, and two great-great grandchildren. Harriett was preceded in death by her husband, Jess, her parents, Marvin and Marie Wade, and her brother, William Wade.

A graveside service is scheduled for 10 AM Monday August 3, 2026 at Memorial Park Cemetery, Oklahoma City, OK.
