Jerry's Obituary
Gerald Eugene Lyon (Jerry), USAF veteran, of Oklahoma City, went to be with the Lord on January 15, 2022. He was born in Oklahoma City on July 13, 1935 to Earl and Maggie Lyon. Jerry was the fourth of five sons. To many of his friends, he was called by his nickname "Shorty." Shorty attended Horace Mann Grade School, Harding Jr. High, and Classen High School where he graduated in 1954. After graduating from the University of Oklahoma in 1958, Jerry entered the US Air Force as a Second Lieutenant and retired 20 years later as a Major. He spent his entire military career in the Air Force Audit Agency. Jerry then worked as an internal auditor for several companies until his final retirement at the age of 65. Jerry was an avid sports fan, particularly OU football. He also loved classic movies and all things history.
He was preceded in death by his parents, two older brothers: Earl Jr. (killed in WW II), and Fred Lyon. He is survived by two brothers; Victor Lyon and Robert (Tots) Lyon: three children; Jeffrey Scott Lyon, Jill E. Rumbaugh (husband Robert), Gerald E Lyon II (wife Beth): five grandchildren; Madeleine Graham (husband Garrett), Clayton Keck, Duncan Rumbaugh, Wyatt and Arlo Lyon. Graveside services will be held at Memorial Park Cemetery on Saturday, January 29th at 11AM.
