DANIEL AUSTIN CANNON
November 26, 1934 to September 14, 2026Oklahoma City, Oklahoma
Daniel Austin Cannon, known to his family and loved ones as Austin, passed away peacefully on September 14, 2026, at the age of 91.
Austin shared 73 wonderful years of marriage with the love of his life, Arlene. They were married on January 5, 1953, beginning a beautiful journey together that lasted more than seven decades. Their life together was filled with love, family, memories, and a lifetime of experiences. His devotion to Arlene and his family was one of the greatest parts of his life.
At just 19 years old, Austin began working for the City of Oklahoma City. After 35 years of dedicated service, he retired and began enjoying some of the things he loved most. He enjoyed traveling, camping, fishing, working on cars, visiting casinos, and watching Western movies. But above all, Austin treasured spending time with his family. His family was his greatest joy, and the memories they made together will be cherished forever.
Austin is survived by his beloved wife, Arlene; his daughters, Marilyn Milson and Carol Vantuyle and her husband, Lex; his brother, Franklin Cannon; and his sister, Grace Cannon Kralik, Tina Cannon.
He is also survived by his six grandchildren: Stephanie Oblander and her husband, Erick; Lorelei Bond and her husband, Johnny; Richard Milson; Barry Blackbird; Nicholas Milson and his wife, Natascha; and Leslie Prestenbach and her husband, Dalane.
Austin leaves behind 13 great-grandchildren: Krista Archer, Grace Milson, Johnny Bond, Daniel Blackbird, Tabitha Rhoton, Bobbi Jo Maples, Colton Oblander, Zachari Coffey, Harrison Moran III, Alivia Moran, Robert Phillips Jr., Kayleb Phillips, and Jacob Phillips, as well as 13 great-great-grandchildren and several nieces, nephews, and other family members.
Austin was preceded in death by his son, Clifton Cannon; his parents, George Cannon and Elsie Golden; his son-in-law, Clark Milson; his brothers, Bill Cannon and Marion (Punk) Cannon; his sister, Mary Ellen Cooper; and his granddaughter, Tiffany Phillips.
One of the most special legacies carried through Austin’s family is the Daniel name, which has now continued through four generations. That tradition began with Austin’s uncle, Clifton Daniel Anderson, and the name has been lovingly carried forward through the generations of the family ever since. Today, the name Daniel continues to live on, connecting the generations and serving as a lasting reminder of the family’s history, love, and enduring legacy. It is a beautiful piece of Austin’s story that will continue to be carried forward by those who came after him.
Austin leaves behind a lifetime of love, laughter, stories, and memories that will live on through the many people who loved him. His family will forever cherish the years they were blessed to share with him and the lasting legacy of love he leaves behind.
He will be deeply missed and forever loved.
