Linda's Obituary

It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Linda Hines, who departed this life on May 16, 2025, at the age of 72 years and 4 months.

Born on January 16, 1953, in Wichita Falls,Tx to Hazel Marie and Clarence Albert (Buddy) Knox.  Linda was a cherished daughter, sister, mother, aunt, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend. She and her soulmate, Richard Hines, were married on January 18, 2000. Richard was Linda’s rock. He loved Linda and was always there for her. He preceded her in death on September 24th, 2023.

Linda graduated from Temple High School in 1971 and was a 1975 graduate of Oklahoma State University.  She remained an avid OSU Sports fan and loved going to OSU football games.

Linda’s career as an early childhood educator spanned a total of 50 years, where her dedication and grace inspired many. In later years, she served as a Literacy Specialist for the entire kindergarten department at Ardmore Public Schools. She achieved her National Teachers Certification through rigorous extra study and work.  Linda was very competitive in any kind of board game, card game, or croquet tournament, and she usually won!  She loved watching Survivor and Amazing Race with her friends.  Linda was a fierce competitor, and it carried her through some very challenging times. She fought the good fight and won the race!

She is survived by her sister, Sherry Knox Evans, sons Cody and Denver Taylor, granddaughter Katelynn, and great-grandson Waylon, granddaughters Kodi Jo, Lexi, and Russia, grandsons Caedyn Taylor, Brody Delozier, and wife Ariana, and great-granddaughter Islah, daughter-in-law Anna Taylor, nephew Brandon Evans, nieces Marcy and Erin Evans, and a very special daughter-in-law Krystal Emery who will carry forward her legacy of love, resilience, and joy.

The memorial service and celebration of Linda’s life will be on June 7th, 2025, at 1:00 p.m. at Faith Center Church. The church will provide and serve lunch for Linda’s family at 12:00 p.m.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to Faith Center Church, 2630 West Broadway, Sulphur, Oklahoma.

Linda always found time to offer a listening ear or a warm embrace.  Her kindness, strength, and unwavering compassion left an indelible mark on the lives of all who knew her.

She was dearly loved and will be forever missed.
