Karen's Obituary

Karen B. Pearson, 84, passed away on January 13, 2025. Karen was born October 31, 1940, in Oklahoma City, the daughter of John Swisher Boggs and Arta Lee Calvert Boggs.

Karen grew up on a homestead in Arkansas City, Kansas, graduated from Ark City High School in 1958 and attended the University of Oklahoma from 1960-1963 where she was a Kappa Kappa Gamma and majored in education.

Karen worked as a secretary in the oil and gas industry until January 7, 1965 when she married John C. Pearson III. John and Karen lived in Oklahoma City until moving to Guthrie in 1966 where she would reside for the remainder of her life. Karen’s marriage to John ended in 1997.

Karen raised four boys, Cannon, Thomas, William and Parker and welcomed countless friends of her boys to her home and treated them all as her own. Karen was actively involved in the Guthrie Public Schools for over 20 years as her boys progressed through the school system. Karen was a room mom, team mom and taxi driver for her boys throughout the years. After raising her boys, Karen served as the administrative assistant for Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Camp in Wellston from 1999 – 2019.

Karen is survived by her three children, Cannon Pearson and his wife Julie Pearson, Thomas Donnellan Pearson, and William Boggs Pearson, her grandchildren: Brianna Lee Pearson, John Cole Pearson and Ashlyn Faith Pearson (children of Cannon and Julie Pearson of Corona California), her brother John Boggs of San Antonio, Texas, and nephew Parker Shields of Guthrie.

A Celebration of Life for Karen will be held at Guthrie Brewing Company in Guthrie, Oklahoma on January 19, 2025, between 2pm to 5pm. There will be no formal service, please stop by anytime and raise a glass to Karen.
